Even If Your Toes Turn Purple Raising Teenagers That Are Confident Happy and Stand Out eBook Rich Christiansen Tim Christiansen Reviews
Another great work by Richard Christiansen and son. A great outlook on raising teenagers in this particularly tricky time! A great read for any parent or prospective parents.
Full of engaging short stories that offer pearls of wisdom to the reader.
It's so refreshing to find a book that not only provides practical advice for parents of teenagers in an extremely accessible format, but demonstrates it's principles through the example of it's authors. It's impossible to read this book without being motivated to improve your own relationship with your children and strengthen your family's core values.
This book has so many insights on how to have an amazing relationship with your teens and not just survive those years. The principals are taught from personal stories you can relate to. This book has made me excited for those teen years instead of dreading them.
Highly recommend this book and thankful I read it at a time when my oldest child is 7 and I can still work on many of the rituals and routines outlined within. Love that Rich's framework for starting multiple businesses with his boys is laid out step by step. Also love that Rich's son Tim gives a teenagers perspective as well. I'll be gifting this book to other parents, must read!
This book teaches the foundations of how to raise happy, loved and confident kids with purpose and "old fashion" values. The principles taught go beyond teaching your children how to say please and thank you, it helps them develop into thinking and productive members of society. The stories and life experiences shared by Rich and Tim are relatable and memorable. You will laugh and experience heartbreaks, right along with them. A great book for families to read and study together!
I enjoyed how the book flowed, moving chapter by chapter, through the parent perspective interlaced with the sons' perspectives on life. It covered topics such as money, intimacy, goals, hard work and just becoming a great person through the experiences brought through purposeful living. I was inspired and given many ideas to implement with my family, but feel this is a book to read even before starting a family and long before teenagers! I love how the author and his wife set specific goals and ideals of how they wanted to raise their family early in their marriage and then show through stories in the book how they have parented. Normally I digest books like this slowly but I found myself wanting to keep moving through, enjoying the wonderful writing, great ideas and inspirational topics. I was very impressed reading the chapters and summaries by both sons (Tim and Alex). They say proof is in the pudding!
I had the pleasure of meeting Rich and his wife last year at a seminar close to where they live. I connected with them immediately and before I knew it, they were inviting me to meet my first Sherpa, and go to their home and out to dinner with their family. I was immediately impressed with Rich as a father and a person. The Sherpa I had met was a sweet young man who Rich was mentoring and helping. Rich's kids were the nicest, most sincere kids you could ever hope for. I walked away inspired to be a better father and a better person as a direct result of my interaction with him and his family.
I was so excited to find out many months later that they had this book coming out, because I wanted to know more about how to raise my three children and I knew Rich and his wife Alice were experts in this. Even though my children aren't teenagers yet (my oldest is 11), this book was perfect for me and I think would be perfect for anyone with a family.
There is a story in there about pokemon and a boy named Danny that instantly made me better appreciate my life and my family. Thank you Rich and thank you Tim for this book. I've already read it once all the way through and I'm looking forward to reading it again, more slowly chapter by chapter... with a notepad of action items!
